Could a MC mando-tasting be arranged?

I just got tickets and on-site reservations. It will be my first time there, and I'm pretty darn excited. I'll be the not-so-great player with an inappropriate bluegrass instrument (teens A-) and a big grin trying to decide between playing music and listening to the pros. Website here: http://www.bbu.org/jvhome.htm

Any tips from Val Veterans on things to do/avoid?

I'm looking to start a side project featuring this kind of music along with assorted originals in that vein. Shoot me some info if you're passionate about this kind of music and want to do some picking. I play mandolin and would love to find a fiddler and/or guitar, banjo or bass--maybe one or two players--to do a heap of music that I've learned but don't have enough opportunity to play.

The lineup isn't as important as the passion and interest. If you know someone feel free to pass this along or send me a pm with some contact info. Thanks!

Help! We need a mandolin picker!

We have a new bluegrass band that started up this last summer in the Springfield/Bolivar/Morrisville area of Missouri. The band is made up of former members of several long-standing Missouri groups (i.e. The Bluegrass Missourians, Waterloo Boy, etc.). Our repertoire includes traditional, contemporary and original bluegrass.

We were starting to sound pretty darn good (if I do say so, myself) when our mandolin player quit to pursue adventures with the banjo, of all things! So, now we desperately need and desire to fill that all-important mandolin spot.

If you’re a local mandolin player that would like to audition for this part-time group, please send me an e-mail message.

Thanks!
