Mandolin Mondays #63 w/ Special Guest Joe Brent

Rating: 1 votes, 5.00 average.
Joe Brent is with us this week for an expressive take on "Old Soul Song" by folk artist Bright Eyes on his one-of-a-kind 10-string Brian Dean mandolin.

Joe is a Brooklyn-based composer and performer who tastefully bridges the gap between classical and improvised music. His impressive track record includes performances and recordings with numerous professional orchestras in addition to jazz greats such as Ravi Coltrane and Stephane Grappelli, and even pop icons like Regina Spektor and Woody Allen. His unique Brian Dean acoustic instruments offer a lush tone that fits equally in all of Joe's diverse pursuits.

Now, Joe performs regularly as a part of the genre-bending trio 9 Horses with jazz violinist Sara Caswell and bassist Shawn Conley. The fresh blend of they're intricate original compositions and adept improvisations offer a compelling new sound. They're recent release Perfectest Herald is definitely worth checking out: https://www.amazon.com/Perfectest-He.../dp/B014EIM0NS

Welcome, Joe. Always good to see you on the pages of the Cafe. Great cut, hilarious ending... It's like what happens at the end of a good movie. Everyone files out and then the actors come back on. Well done.

Hey Joe. What does you mother think of spending all that money on shoes?
Great video. Hope to see you sometime in Minneapolis.
