Expand your recognition and knowledge of this musical art form, while preserving the original integrity and style of the acoustic blues tradition through workshops and live performances. Develop your proficiency in blues guitar, slide guitar, Piedmont-style finger picking, harmonica, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, blues piano, zydeco accordion, gospel singing, bass and percussion.
The schedule features day-long opportunities for playing, informal jamming, band labs, and the participants' concert. The 2012 Acoustic Blues festival also includes mainstage performances at McCurdy Pavilion, and club performances throughout Port Townsend. Performance schedule to be determined.

San Diego Classical Mandolin Camp - Alon Sariel, San Diego, CA
The San Diego Classical Mandolin Camp led by classical mandolinist and educator Chris Acquavella along with guest instructor Israeli virtuoso Alon Sariel will explore the depth and breadth of the classical mandolin, from baroque to modern times, through four days of intensive classes, rehearsals, evening concerts and jam sessions.
8:00pm - San Diego Classical Mandolin Camp performance featuring Alon Sariel and the SDCMC Orchestra. Israeli virtuoso Alon Sariel will be performing music by Bach, Hochman, Ysaye, Calace and other selections. The concert will finish off with a big finale feqaturing the San Diego Classical Mandolin Camp Orchestra. Simon Chrisman and Andrew Lovejoy: house concert - Poulsbo, WA
On Saturday, August 4, please join Simon Chrisman, hammered dulcimer virtuoso known for his work with The Bee Eaters, and Andrew Lovejoy, singer, songwriter, and mandolinist, for an evening of acoustic music.

The music will begin at 6:30, so come a bit early and grab a nice seat! We ask a suggested donation of $8-15 (sliding scale), and thank you for supporting live acoustic music.

More about the musicians:
Simon Chrisman, recently homeless, is doing his
best to make a living doing the thing he loves to do best: hitting
things with sticks. He also likes to play bass. He also likes toast,
but doesn't hit it with sticks. Usually.
Simon Chrisman has performed with Darol Anger and Mike Marshall,
opened for Bill Frisell, and at 16 was a scholarship guest artist at
the Augusta Heritage Festival in West Virginia. His sophisticated
rhythmic sense and ingenious tonal flexibility, on an instrument
usually considered limited, has created a buzz among musicians all
over the world. Or maybe just in the States. Well, OK, perhaps not
the WHOLE country, but in just a bit of it. That is to say, at least
where he grew up, on Bainbridge Island. Although it could be a bit of
a stretch to say the whole island, so lets just say that his mom is
pretty psyched about his music.

Andrew Lovejoy is a mandolin player, singer, and songwriter native to Bainbridge Island. In his high school and college years Andrew contemplated careers in Philosophy, English Literature, and Ultimate Frisbee; but finding these options to be too lucrative, he realized his true calling was to sing and play the mandolin. By a stroke of staggering good fortune, he met and married a beautiful woman who thought that this was a really good idea, and he now spends his days writing songs and delving into explorations of oldtime, bluegrass, and other American string music.
