The Real Malloys - Schooner Wharf, Key West
The Real Malloys, comprised of notorious Keys musicians Rob Sweet, Dr. Joe Pepper, and Steve Gibson, are a true alternative band for one simple reason: they play music that doesn't suck. Combining guitar, electric and upright bass, mandolin and the mischievous MandoBird, these guys play nothing but the good stuff - rock, folk, blues, country, swing, what have you - all with a twist you won't want to miss! No Jimmy Buffett, though.![]()
Somehow New England, Mid-Atlantic, and The South converged in the Caribbean and became The Real Malloys. Rob Sweet, Dr. Joe Pepper, and Steve Gibson present a unique combination of talent, experience, and instrumentation with guitar, electric and upright bass, mandolin and the mischievous MandoBird. Rock, folk, blues, country, swing, and bluegrass get mixed up in a malleable melange of merriment, a melting pot of musical mayhem best described as "Malloyable Music."
But seriously, thanks to the support of our friends who care and the strangers we meet each week, the band has been coming together and getting better all the time. We take note of what people like or don't like about what we do, and adjust and adapt accordingly. That's one of the nice things about The Real Malloys. Our music incorporates a wide variety of genres, styles, and approaches. So if something a little out of the ordinary, even for us, comes along, we can accommodate it and not lose a step nor think twice.
We will be at Schooner Wharf Bar, a waterside bar once extolled by Charles Kuralt as being "the center of the known universe," on Monday evenings 7-11 PM.
