Ed just got this instrument- also has an interesting comparison: Jim Richter's Rock & Blues Mandolin Camp was fantastic! I learned tons, and got to meet and jam with many fine folks! Boy, you were correct. My Hyalite D-hole OM sounded very different from the Big Sky f-hole OM. Both sounded VERY good, but I'd describe the Hyalite as sounding open, warm, and resonate, while the Big Sky sounded focused, 'ringing', and compressed.
