Howdy All!

Perhaps I entered the wrong keywords in the search box, but I can't find any suggestions for beginner books for my 9 year old son here in the forum.

I bought him a mandolin and the Butch Baldassari beginner mandolin homespun lesson. Good info here, but very limited for sure. Does anyone have any suggestions for good books for him to learn mandolin from?

Thanks!

Try YOU CAN TEACH YOURSELF MANDOLIN w/CD by Dix Bruce. You will need to work with him but it is an excellent starter book.

I'm using First Lesson's by Dix Bruce and The Mandolin PRimer by Bert Casey. Both are very good.

Plus you check out some of the stuff on here as well as doing a search on the internet.

I'd recommend "The Mandolin Tutor" by Simon Mayor. I found it to be just the right pace and very clearly written. In comparison, I found just about any other beginner's book I've ever seen to be fairly incomprehensible.
