Charlie...
I was reading an old Mandolin World News last night and ran across a letter printed from Charlie Derrington of Paris Tennessee ('78 or '79)....Figured it had to be you! #Pretty cool..
Do you remember what you ended up doing with the mandolin? Dont' mean to test the memory or nothing...it was over twenty years ago! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif

Ben,
You're right. 20 yrs is a long time. So long in fact, I don't even remember the content of the letter. Remind me, and I'm sure I'll remember the mandolin.

Charlie...
It was about having a mandolin refinished in order to change the tone...going from laquer to varnish. #I can't recall the mandolin name...but I'm pretty sure it started with a "N". #You mentioned that you weren't happy with the tone or some aspect of the sound and wanted to know if the tone would be changed by refinishing it in varnish. #
I left the copy of the magazine at home but could bring it it for more specifics. #It was sort of cool seeing your name in print from a few years back! #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
If I remember correctly it was in the Buck White issue. BTY That was one of the best and most indepth interviews out of all the Mandolin World New...in my opinion.

Ben,
It was a handmade mandolin (I never knew the builder)and I ended up doing it myself. It was the first varnish job I ever did. I believe the year was 1979. Boy, talk about bringing back old memories !
