We all have to have a decent browser to veiw the cafe. I have been using IE and Firefox side by side for several weeks now.Firefox is now my default and IE has been uninstalled. Firefox is free and does not have the security issues IE had.If you are interested search Firefox, available on the mozilla site.Cheers----Lp

Tabbed browsing rocks!!! If you like Firefox, ditch Outlook too and try Thunderbird.

Firefox rocks http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif, but be careful. You might not want to uninstal Microsoft Internet Explorer, because I believe it is linked to other Windows functions. I would recommend just designating Firefox as your default browser, but I would routinely remove IE cookies and temp files.
I would never consider using outlook, in fact I'm happy (for non-work email) to use browser mail from my service provider.
Put the worms on their server, not my PC.

Yeah, I think it's difficult if not impossible to unistall IE...I just removed the shortcut from my desktop and pretty much ignore it.

This is so unmando related....
I have had this lop.com browser hijacker for about 3 weeks. I've tried everything to get rid of it. It is a search spyware that I think came through MSN while my kids were using it.
No success yet.
Any help?
Ken

Ken:

Have you tried Spy Sweeper? You can download it for one month's free use (it is a subscription after that).

Ken, you might want to try "Adaware" by lavasoft, "Spybot Search and Destroy" is another good one, you can find these at #download.com (http://www.download.com/) , run by Cnet. #After you get that off your system, try a program called "Spyware Blaster", it keeps things (spyware, hijackers) from changing your registry, you don't have to run it, just update it occasionally. #All these can be found at the link provided.

Kids..... #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif #Good luck! -Neal

All these are freeware btw.

Adaware's my favorite anti-spyware program, really easy to use.

Opera's my favorite browser, despite its banner ad on the top.

I'm firmly on the FireFox train, and also use Thunderbird for my personal email.

I wouldn't totally nuke IE (although I'd like to most days), as some web sites just won't work on FF. However, there is a download extension where it lets you "right" click on a link, and one of the options is "Open in IE"

Nice touch. Tons of great downloadable extensions.

Opera's my favorite browser, despite its banner ad on the top.
So, register your copy of Opera and you'll lose the banner!

If you guys think tabbed browsing is cool, Opera's mouse gesture navigation will send you right over the top. (It can be done in Firefox with an add-in, but it's built into Opera).

I'm browsing with Firefox now. Cool! The Image Zoom extension makes viewing the pics much nicer here on the Cafe'. Takes the small pic files we're limited to and makes them big enough to see.

I also am loving the ad blocking extension. Makes my slow dial-up faster. Thanks! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

I have been using Firefox for about eight months. I never touch I.E anymore. The tab feature on Firefox is what I like.

Interesting! I just read about FireFox on another discussion board; hop over here to Mando Cafe and - wa'la - another thread about FireFox. #Must give it a try when I get home tonight. #IS won't let me install it here at work. It's the "Establishment" control thing, you know. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Installed Foxfire here on my home PC, and so far, so good. #Definately seems faster than IE.

I used Spybot the other day to remove some GAIN software ####. I still had a Trojan virus on my PC...I didn't find it until I upgraded to the new version of AVG virus software (good, free stuff that AVG!). Anyway, I downloaded "Cleanup" (www.cleanup.stevengould.org) and it basically wipes every temp file off your PC. I ran it, then rechecked for the Trojan and voila! it was gone.

I might try to look at Firefox....and what else was that? Thunderbird?
