I am seeking a good instructor in the Portland Or area, does anyone on this site know of someone.I don`t care what type of music I just want to be able to play better.I would say that I have some knowledge but not much.

Go talk to Steve or Kate at Artichoke music on Hawthorne. Not sure who the current mando instructor is, but they always have a good one teaching there.

Best,fuzzy

There are several excellent instructors in Portland. Jan DeWeiss (sp?), Peter Schwimmer, and Greg Clarke are 3 of the best.
Greg Clarke (http://www.gregclarkemusic.com/)

I don't have Peter or Jan's contact info, but I'm sure they're in the phone book.

Nice to see Greg Clarke's name on these pages...

I think he's probably one of the great "unknown" pickers on the planet...

Jan routinely has an advert in the Willamette Week (in the musicians section)

Greg Clarke is an AMAZING player. He gives lessons and doesnt charge an arm & leg (had a few and still got all mine).
He plays in several groups including one of my favorites "Doctor Corn and the Bluegrass Remedies"

Thank you all for the great info!.I will check into some of these people and see who suits me.I think Greg sounds like a really good one hopefully he will have the time and patients to teach someone with little knowledge. Thanks again
