Who makes or sells a good gigbag for an F style mandolin? Is there one that offers decent protection? I just finished checking most of the online retailers and they all seem to have the same one that costs about $35 or so. Aren't there better ones that that?
Any info would be appreciated....

I've looked at the following two companies' F soft cases and they seem great, but expensive.

Blue Heron Cases www.blueheroncases.com

Colorado Case Company www.coloradocase.com

Hey, Chris Thile used to keep his Dude in a gig bag. Probably upset him when it fell out and broke the headstock scroll.

I think the gig bag is only any good if it cost more than the mandolin inside.

I stock Colorado Case Co cases and I think they are about as good as they get. Well made covers and very high density foam that really does absorb drops and blows. They generally run $140 to $175 depending on color and options. Kenc

I have a Colorado case for an "A" and a Blue Heron case for an "F". Don't let the price scare you, they're worth it. These are both much more than a gig bag. The high density foam offers a lot of protection and they're easy to carry. I use them more than I use the shaped hard cases.
