1st listing - new today . Seems like a LOT for an A with oval hole (and non-raised fingerboard extension, of course). Am I out of touch with Vintage Gibson prices? Feedback please.

From the other ones I've seen advertised, it does seem $2k overpriced, but it does look in tip-top condition...
There are 2 snakeheads (A-1) at Elderly, with repaired tops, for $2500 each...

The prices of everything went up. F2 from $2400 now at $3600 and up.In fact mando bros has a '24F2 for over 6K. F4s reach close to $6000. So this does not suprise me. I do not think I ever saw a pumpkin colored A-4 like that.

That's highly unusual (unique?).. top/body of an a2z, fleur-de-lis on the peghead like an a4. Nice shape too, not out of the bounds of common sense for the price!

The body looks A-4 with the rosette, no?

Red sunburst snakehead A4's regularly sell for $4800 to $5000. A blonde top would be worth a premium.

Wow!
I guess seeing 4 or 5 blackface average condition ones for sale really does not give a good idea of the price then! I stand wonderingly corrected http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Looking at it again the sides appear to be mohagony with that interlocking grain-no?. I believe A-4s are maple.
I can't tell what that back is.

Well... it looks like its sold,to bad I was thinking of things to sell to try and buy that one, I thought that thing was way cool.As far as price goes, seemed about right to me, you gotta pay extra for condition, rare color and alleged sonic properties. And don't forget it had a nice case too, a truly unique A4. There are more pics at the mandolin archive. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
