hey fellow bomandoists,

i had a blast and hope everyone else did. what fun to meet some folks, jam a bit, and play a whole bunch of amazing instruments. all were so different and wonderful in their own ways. thanks to all who came for your kind offers to play with your toys, and for the fun afternoon! thanks to neil for aranging a location.
thanks to mike the mugwump man for helping me see that starting with the correct pic placement and not keeping it there is at the root of my slippage issue (worth the trip just for that)!

for those who werent there and wish to drool......
a bunch of old f4s and f5s, a sam bush, gilchrist, phoenix, weber, rigel, parsons, my very own kennaquhair, kimble (my fav other than my own), baird, midmo, ky, (can't remember the name of the f5 from a luthier in the poughkipsee ny area, but it was amazing)resonators, mandobanjos, and more! we also had fiddles, guitars, harmonicas!

for those who want to see pics, i created an ofoto album- just go to the bomando group on yahoo and click on my message. it will invite you to sign in and check them out.

enjoy!

ira

Please, please... who is this mystery maker. He is within one hour from my house. Anyone have a clue?

if i find out i'll let you know. you may want to post a query on the bomando yahoo site.

also can't believe i forgot to mention the flatirons- we had a pancake and an f5 (which was a true banjo killer)>

i had read on the yahoo board that there was a gent with a brentrup A coming. did you get a chance to play that one, ira?

Yes, there was a blacktop Brentrup 21V there, the prototype of that model, very nice. Of the Phoenix make, there was an Ultra, a NeoClassical, and a red DeLuxe (mine). There were even a couple of electrics, resonators and banjolins, very eclectic herd of instruments.

i had a great time at the bomando gathering.felt a bit intimidated by all the great pickers there ,but i'll get over it.great collection of instruments and a great friendly bunch of folks.concord n.h. sounds great, but we are going to mexico on the 6th,and drinking on the beach in 80+ deg weather sounds great too!http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Hi Evan
Gibby and i decided to leave the "manalins" at home,so as to not bake them in the hot tropical sun or splash margaritas inside of them!a fishing trip is being talked about ,if not this year, next years trip for sure!my last trip there we caught a large grouper over 30 lbs that our guide would have no part in releasing.they eat everything brought to the boat down there.
i was hoping you would have jetted in for the gathering but maybe next time you might.Going to Merlefest now that you are in the thick of it all?

Sorry I missed it. Thanks for the pix. I would have added 2 mandos and taken a seat in the back so the real players could do their thing.
