View Full Version : Balls from Guitar Strings to Loops 4 Ovations?
I have seen a few posts where players have cut the balls from old guitar strings to attach to the loops on standard mandolin strings for use on Ovation String Through Bridges.
Do you use one ball per mando string? Do you just attach the loop over the grove in the ball?

you can just stick one ball in the loop, that should work. alot of times if im playing guitar and my sting breaks near the bridge, i can undo the string at the tuners and have enough string to wrap around that ball and twist it up and have a quick fix. this is when i dont have another string. had one last on my beater guitar for 5 months once.

Yes Steve I have seen those as well as the D'darios but I have string through & standard mandolins and I want to use the same strings on both. Also juststrings only has medium gauge strings with ball ends.

The thru-the-body electric Fm61se has 4 ferrules and so I double up on one ball.
For 8 individually drilled ball seats, for per string use, the loop is well sized to use old balls,a bit big, but, just hold a little tension so they stay in the bridge while youre winding the peg.
