Does anyone use a program for Tablature Editing? I've heard Guitar Pro 4 and Tablaedtit are good programs but can they be used for the Mandolin?

I have the full (paid) version of TablEdit, and it works very well for any instrument. I have no experience with Guitar Pro or any other tab software, so I couldn't say if one is better than the other.

Does the full version of tabledit create the .midi file for you?

A friend of mine sent me a txt version of a song he wrote out in tab. He actually wrote it as a fingering exercise. He did a nice job, but it would be much easier in tabledit wouldn't it? And it would create the midi file which would be sweet it seems.

If you copy the .txt file to your system's clipboard and then open TablEdit, you can import from the clipboard. Once the tab is in TablEdit, it will play the MIDI, print tab &/or notation, and even convert from mando to guitar or banjo (why would anyone want to do that?) or another instrument, etc....

And don't forget, there are a ton of mando tunes in Tabledit that you can get at
www.co-mando.com (don't forget the hyphen or you're in for a surprise):D

Absolutely, Jim M. Also, you can find MIDI files all over the place, load them into TablEdit, and viola! tab!!
