I never really paid to the bottom where it shows new members signing up until recently but it sure seems like a bunch recently. That is a good thing! I'm curious if Scott or one of the moderators actually knows if the # of new members is increasing faster then in the past. Seems like a lot of new names and handles now. COOL!! Maybe our world is really growing. John http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/coffee.gif

As has been mentioned before on this site, movies like "O Brother" and "Cold Mountain," as well as cross-over artists like Alison Krauss have gotten a lot more people out looking for "more music like that." When "The Great High Mountain Tour" was in St. Louis, about 5,000 people showed up and it got great reviews, which was pretty amazing for our area. Also, we have an oganization in St. Louis called The Folk School that teaches old-time and bluegrass music. Thier enrollment is at an all time high and they just moved into a larger building. When people discover the music, they discover the mando and some of them will decide to give it a try. Unfortunately, some of those people take up the banjo instead. I guess you have to take the good with the bad!
