I just picked up Mando Mafia's Get Away (http://www.midcontinentmusic.com/detail.cfm?Catalogid=1941)Album and got knocked over by their version of 'Apeman'.

Fun stuff and really nice playing on any mando family instruments. I found this site of Kinks Tunes - (http://kinks.it.rit.edu/chords.html)(316 of them) but wonder if there is a better, more comprehensive collection of the music written out? I realize this is pretty simplistic stuff but - it really rocks on a Mandola or Octave ...

Any ideas?

Digging up an old thread...

Last night my guitar playing buddy got me to play the rhythm for "You Really Got Me". Mostly just barring the G & D strings sliding around and overdriving the pickup and to be honest it didn't sound much different than a guitar, but it was big fun!

The track "To the Bone" works amazingly well on octave mandolin (capo'ed 2). I love the Kinks!

I love "Celluloid Heroes". It the piano fills that make.

If you've never listened to "The Kinks Present a Soap Opera" album, check it out. One of thier more creative (and funny) works. No hits on it so it's not something you'd ever hear on most radio stations.
