I have this perverse thing about wanting to try out the cheapest possible strings. Call me crazy. I mostly use JP's (not the cheapest, but I like them). But now and then I try something odd. I had found that the D'Aquisto lights work well on my Givens. They're $3.?? or so. Then I found these:

Wow, $2.86 a set. Cool. I put a set on my Morris F5 a couple of days ago. I was surprised that I didn't lose much volume or punch (over the heavier JP's I took off). They sound pretty darn good. Seems like about the best deal I've come across lately.

I use them on my Mid Missouri and am happy with the sound. I think they are a good string for a flat top.

How about less than $2 a set --
Euphonon (http://www.hotworship.com/euphonon/mandolin.html).

I just wanted to follow up in the interest of ...uh, being helpful.

I took these strings off after two weeks. The instrument would not stay in tune with them on it. I put J74's on, and it has returned to its normal, nice, tuneable self.

No more Darco's for this boy.
