Kay mandobass (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=16222&item=3767632149&rd=1) - Has anyone heard one of these? What do they sound like?
Is this a curiousity, or a viable musical instrument?

I can't read the name on the headstock in the picture (lots of photos of the back, but no closeup of the front), but it looks like more letters than needed for Kay. Maybe "Kalamazoo?"

It appears to be a leftover from the 20's...definately Gibson..I bid on it, but don't want it that bad http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Headstock inlay, headstock shape, and ebony nut are nearly identical to a 1938 Kalamazoo KG-11 guitar I own. It is definitely a Kalamazoo. Kalamazoo also made f-hole mandocellos during the 1930's.
I like the F 'oles compared to the gibsons that had a tiny round 'ole.
