ive got about 6 16" pieces of firewood about 5" radius, but they are only quarter peices, and not realy mando-worthy.
what are some things people have done with stuff like that? i was thinking flame maple wood-nymphs, or maybe a cutting board. anything else mando-related? anything else not mando-related?
thanks for any suggestions....

i was thinking picks, but ive got some ebony piano keys and made some out of those and wasnt to impressed. maybe it was how i was doing it, but they seemed to soak up alot of the punch in the tone. maybe maple is different though.

There's another thread about them, but i tried John Pearse's Indian-made wooden picks (http://www.janetdavismusic.com/sarod.html) and i think the rosewood is nice, but the ebony is a little dead. I'm not sure what other kinds of wood might work.

I recently made a couple BEAUTIFUL curly wooden picks, pecan and cherry wood. Both real hard and stiff at 1.14, but the click of the pick hitting the string drove me crazy, not flexible I guess. Back to question at hand: cutting board, turkey call, cigar box, jewewly box with MOP inlay, etc...
