Hey, I did a search under "bridge" and ton's of posts popped up, so I will cut to the chase: Who makes a professional grade bridge...I am looking to inhance the traditional bluegrass tones and Dawg Funk type tone of my A5-L. I'd like to see if a new bridge will bring more volume and tone to my instrument. Thanks, dy.

Darryl Wolfe aka F5Journl....or Steve Smith at Cumberland Acoustics..Darryl is a member of our group here and you can reach Steve at CumberlandAcoustics.com. Stew-Mac and Elderly have some bridges available too.

Elderly do in fact distribute Steve Smith's bridges. I got mine from them, and I'm very happy with it. The cost is pretty negligible ($35, I think) compared to the price of even a pacrim mandolin and it's a big improvement over rosewood bridges. The cost of having a luthier fit it to your top and notch the saddle may well be as much, if not more, than the bridge itself, so unless you're doing it yourself (which is fairly straightforward), you have to factor this in as well.

I don't know what age your A5-L is, but I believe that Gibson use Steve's bridges these days anyway so maybe you already have one.

Ditto for Darryl. I got one of his for my snake A and all is right in the world now!
