I am not a builder but was wondering if a one piece top on a mandolin wouldn`t give more vibration then a glued two piece top? It seems the glue holding the two pieces together would deter some of the vibrations....Is there a pro and con of one or the other?...
Thanks....Willie

Doesn't seem to be any difference. Though with a two piece top, you can mismatch the halves for acoustic purposes.

I'd say with one piece top you always have mismatched halves as that wide piece will rarely be same on both sides and with two piece you have a chance to match them :-)
Good joint doesn't make any difference.

Many of the old blackface and whiteface A mandos were multi piece tops.
