View Full Version : T'was the night before Xmas...

T'was the night before Xmas
and all through the house
was the sound of a mandolin
played quietly as a mouse.

"What the heck?" I whispered,
and scratched my bald head.
But I'd heard it, I swear!
so I slipped out of bed.

Down the hall I pattered,
down the stairway I sneaked.
And once down the stairs
round the corner I peeked.

I couldn't believe my eyes,
but, oh, I hoped it was true!
There was Santa Claus playing
a brand new BRW!

He didn't see me,
or if he did, he didn't show.
He just laid the mandolin down
and stood up to go.

Then up through the chimney
I watched him disappear,
with a Merry Xmas to all
and a Happy New Year.

I'd tried to be a good boy
and he must've got my letter
to be on the waiting list for an A-style,
or an F-style, even better.

No lump of coal for me this year
my dream and wishes had come true-
a new BRW mandolin,
and this one, #42!

I wonder what I'll get next year?
A lump of coal is my guess.
But could this be the start of something,
the start of M-A-S?

Happy Holidays! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Nice job. Unfortunately, my version of "The Night Before..." is X-rated and not fit for the Cafe'. Darn funny, though! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

T'was the night before Christmas
and what did I get?
A house full of toys
and a mountain of debt.

Where's my new mando
I said to St Nick.
I swear I've been good
Is this some kinda sick trick?

Not a Dude, or Nugget,
Not even a Gibson did I ask.
But a Michael Kelly "O".
Is that such a hard task.

Go on back to the North Pole
keep picking your F4
I play my Kentucky 140
For one year more.

Was a month before Christmas
And all through my place.
Christmas gifts were hidden
A smile on my face

I had told mama
I’ll pick mine this year
I want a cheap little mando
With plastic tuning gears

I opened the bottom drawer
Out came a stash
Mama would $7!^
If she had found this cash

I go to the music store
Pick up my Collings MT2
Man its so awesome
Brand Spankin new

Come Christmas morning
I open my box
Strum on the mando
And say “for a cheap one it rocks”

T’was the month before Christmas,
The family was stuffed.
While in New Mexico my new axe
is being polished and buffed.

Made of ironwood, maple
and englemann, grain tight.
T’was a thing of splendor
while still in the white.

Bill Bussman’s the luthier
He’s funny and quick.
Ever so jolly
He looks like St. Nick!

He traveled to Ireland
so the tint would be true,
Like a bottle of Jameson
Such a glowing golden hue.

Promised for Christmas
Or perhaps just before,
I can’t wait for this Old Wave
to show up at my door.
