Any R & G fans here? I would love to hear someone do some mandolin interpretations of there stuff. Anybody know some other spanish/classical kind of stuff on mandolin?
+1 for R&G here...
There first album came with a DVD that was divided between performance videos and lessons on what they do. I think the rhythmic things could come across to some extent. I think you would have to carefully select the mandolin with which to do this. You should look up some articles on them, a couple I read described the particulars of the custom nylon guitars they use. They are not regular classic or flamenco guitars.

I am also a big R&G fan, after finding their version of Take 5 for the Song A Week. I never considered trying their stuff on mandolin; too complicated for my skills, and too far afield from what I usually listen to fake, or to recommend anything. If you do find something, and it's possible, please post it or point us to it. It would be great fun to hear.

Yes to R&G. I checked them out at the urging of my friend, Frank Gonzalez. I, in turn, have him listening to AKUS and all things Thile.
R&G are great. So easy to listen to.

+1 for RyG! Love them!
Here is a great video of an Andean tune performed by the gifted Australian duo Nougat. Excellent MC (check out Ruth Roshan's beautifully controlled tremolo!). This performance reminds me very much of RyG, both in terms of style and virtuosity.
Also, be sure to check out the YouTube video of Nougat's version of The Lonely Shepherd...Great stuff.
