Ok, I have a very early Eastman 805. It actually has the original headstock design (with no name), a slightly different fretboard and no label. Anyway, I really like the instrument and plan to keep. The tone has improved from good to very good, and now after 3 weeks, I think it is beginning to open up. Since this is likely a lifetime instrument, I was wondering what I could do to make it better. My thoughts include, new heavier tailpiece, new bridge, tone guard, armrest, a new nut (bone or MOP) and maybe tuner upgrades. So, what might help the tone and where would be a good place to go for the work? I live in the southeast but can ship. Any sugestions (or solicitations) would be greatly appreciated.

Your mandolin already has a bone nut. Anything gained from a heavier tailpiece is questionable. The quality of the bridge on my 615 was as good as any you could buy. Save you money for a great set-up. Lp
