View Full Version : USA Patriotic Song Tabs
Haven't seen these in one grouping so here is a set of USA patriotic songs in mandolin tab (lyrics included). I was searching for a couple, found these and merged (somewhat roughly) into one PDF file. Haven't had much of a chance to validate so if you find anything wrong, let me know.

Thanks Bob! This is great.
I play the featured "Battle Hymn of the Republic" tab quite often. It is a great tremolo exercise IMO. Once one plays it through a few times it's very natural to see where the tremolo notes go.
Great stuff.
Thanks again & have a great Holiday weekend.
Oh, and thank you for all of your years of service to our country, Bob!
Thanks to all other Mandolin Cafe veterans as well!

Thank you, Bob, for putting this great resource together. The Central Texas Bluegrass Association has a band scramble around the Fourth of July, and it's good to have a couple of patriotic songs to throw out for song suggestions.
All the lyrics to "The Stars and Stripes Forever", trio included. Wow.
Does anyone else think that www.traditionalmusic.co.uk (http://www.traditionalmusic.co.uk/) is an ironic website on which to find this stuff?

Yes, I do. I've been using that site ever since I began playing 20 short months ago and it's been a fun way to expand my repetoire, especially for my ex-Army dad. His idea of a great music book would probably be "John Phillip Sousa for Mandolin" !!

Anyone else having problem downloading the attachment? I may have uploaded a version where 2 pages are in landscape, an issue I fixed. Trying to download to see what I did upload and I get a message stating the file is damaged.
Got word that I uploaded the correct file and it is obviously working for others. Can't understand why I can't download my own file but no problem. If anyone has the same problem, just PM me.
I was asked about credits. There were no music credits for all of the tabs I found at www.traditionalmusic.co.uk. Each page of tab is the original PDF download from that site with one exception. (America the Beautiful originally came in landscape which I converted to portrait.) The lyrics were found at www.usa-flag-site.org/songs.shtml and then cut and converted to PDF, and combined into one file with the tabs. The author of each was credited but I deleted (wrongly I guess).
Ed - The SS Banner gets some of my amateurish tremolo. I usually do something different on Battle Hymn by playing at a slightly faster tempo than normal and adding some simple garnishes. I also like to play Battle Hymn with Dixie that reminds me of a scene from the movie, The Outlaw Josey Wales. I want to work up a transition between the two similar to Elvis' Patriotic Medley.
