I think it's pretty interesting. Sort of a "Pickin' on the Dead" thing, with Jesse's tasteful licks. I enjoyed it.

I bought it right out of the chute and love it!
Tasty licks, steady voice, and Grateful Dead. How much better can it get?

Tasteful indeed! But don't expect hardcore bluegrass.
I was surprised, pleased, and even a bit impressed that the general sound is a fair bit closer to Jerry Garcia than it is to Bill Monroe, and that's certainly not a knock on Bill. I can only grin and guess that Jesse's deadhead wife must have got to him!
Yeah, I really like it!

I'm hoping he plays a fair amount of these songs at Delfest this year. Nothin' like hearing Dead songs live.

As a big deadhead and also a big fan of traditional bluegrass and Jesse McReynolds in particular (especially after watching him tame a tough performance sitting between Bobby Osborne and Frank Wakefield) and a person who is picky about my Dead and my bluegrass - This album rocks!
Jesse McReynolds definitely takes the Dead approach, he plays some deeper cuts, and he really experiments on the mandolin at times and plays very tasteful back up throughout.
Attn: Bobby fans: This is only Garcia/Hunter stuff, you won't be hearing any Saint of Circumstance, Let it Grow, or any other Bobby tunes.
I have listened to this album ten times in two days and was motivated to learn Black Muddy River.
By this! May we see Jesse with Furthur this summer!!!!!

I haven't been this captivated by a new release since Levon Helm's "Dirt Farmer". Jesse's vocals are incredible for a guy his age!

Go here (http://128.163.130.14/woodsongs-audio/606hi.wma) to listen to Jesse McReynolds performing several songs (including Ripple) from this album on Show #606 (http://www.woodsongs.com/showdetailspage.asp?SN=606) of the WoodSongs Old Time Radio Hour.
I was lucky enough to catch this today on my PBS affiliate. Great stuff!
I'm sure I'll enjoy listening to this again from the archives more than once.
