View Full Version : I got scooped
my fiddle pal and I did a scoop job on my mando. before.
and I'd like to say, sorry for the pics. my camera sucks, and I suck at taking pics too. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Watson has the tools and patience, I just helped hold stuff and sand. we kinda followed the instructions on the frets.com site. we did an ok job for a couple hacks. It does look better in person, than on the pics.
I've always wanted a scooped board, so this little job saved me a lot of money. and my wife is glad. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

and it's a joy to pick, and not hear so much pick hitting the fretboard, especially through the phones when recording. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

That's a MK right? #I thought they came with scooped boards already. #My old one had a scooped board. #I think. #I must be loosing my mind. #But, I agree, I can't stand the pick click of a non scooped board. #I have an old Lyon and Healy that has a non scooped extention. #Drives me nuts! #But, I don't really want to mess with her cause she's old and set in her ways, you know?http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
good job on the modification.
I think they all come that way now. I've had mine for about 4 years. I hate that sound also. And it really is annoying when recording. Of course I wouldn't have done (had done) this if it were a "great" or "old" mando. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
I think my friend did a great job too, for a first try. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
