Haven't found much on the web about this new finish. LMI seems to think highly of it. I read the application instructions/story and got a little scared; sounded kinda finicky. Anyone try it yet?

If you haven't already, check out mimf.com. There are currently a few discussions there about KTM-9.

Thanks Andrew. #I have checked over there. #Not much info though. BTW, I've built a number of light amber mandolins without using any dyes at all. #My varnish gives a considerable amount of amber tint. #I've only scraped the bindings on one of them but it left a bit of a ledge. #I've found I prefer to just leave the binding an amber color. #I think blondes look best without any dye in the wood. #Gives a softer more even tone. Check out the top of page 2 in post a pic of your blonde mando.

Thanks Chris, the customer would like coloring more like that of the Sucek in the mando discussion, so I think I'll take the advice to spray a coat of tinted shellac, scrape the bindings, and then varnish. I definitely agree you about not dying the wood directly.
