No actually I like this finish mando Jeremy. If I wanted Thiles Id go out and find a damn flatiron instead of having one made.

Some of us enjoy our Flatirons.
If you want a damn one made, find a luthier you can trust.
you completely missed the point, If I didnt like the Flatirons, do you really think I would want the plans for them?I mean why would you post that comment? I just think this luthier is really talented and I'm very curious to see how he would do at it. lets not be so negative ok? This whole message Board is slowly becoming that way. Lets keep it real ok? We are all into the same thing here, lets not jump on one another so easily.
truths?

I personally enjoy my Montana made Flatirons and I will defend them.
I reacted to your words and maybe not your intent, but read your words you wrote! Talk about negativity.
If you enjoy Flatirons they are not rare and it is easier to buy one than have one copied. Maybe ask Weber to build one for you, if you need a new one.

Luthier's link is good the web page just doesn't load sometimes. I have the same problem but if I wait a bit it will work eventually. Dons kit is put together real well. And easily modified to your wants or needs. John

The depth is 3 inches I believe.
And how about the width? from side to side when facing the front of the bouzouki?

My standard mandolin plans will be available in two weeks with instructions as well.

If I'm not mistaken, the Flatiron bouzouki was *ahem* inspired by Rich Westerman's work. His plans are available from GAL (Guild of American Luthiers) as well, I believe

You could also check out Peter Allan, Sawchyn Guitars:

He makes very similar mandolins, mandolas, and octaves, that several MC members have raved about here. I've never played any, but have heard a few Flatiron octaves that sounded great.
Is the flatiron bouzouki x braced or ladder braced?
Really good question, is the flatiron x braced or ladder?
