I can't even find guitar tab or any kind of standard notation for this song let alone mandolin tab.

When I listen to the song, I can imagine playing it as though I'd seen the tab before, but i can't find any.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Coop

I found a chord chart for it on a few of the common tab sites for guitar. They all seem to have the same chords.

Oh, and I'm not exactly sure how to voice D/F# on the mandolin...Would love to know.

Here goes, from this site (www.911tabs.com/tabs/a/abba/the_way_old_friends_do_tab.htm):

INTRO: D G D A D

D/F#: 2x0232

(D) You and (G) I can (A) share the (D) silence
Finding (D/F#) comfort (G) together
The (D) way old friends (A) do
And (D) after (G) fights and (A) words of (D) violence
We make (D/F#) up with each (G) other
The (D) way old (A) friends (D) do
(D/F#) Times of (G) joy and times of (D) sorrow
(D/F#) We will (G) always (D) see it (A) through
Oh (D) I (D/F#) don't (G) care what (A) comes (D) tomorrow
We can (D/F#) face it (G) together
The (D) way old (A) friends (D) do

You and I can share the silence
Finding comfort together
The way old friends do
And after fights and words of violence
We make up with each other
The way old friends do
Times of joy and times of sorrow
We will always see it through
Oh I don't care what comes tomorrow
We can face it together
The way old friends do

We can face it together
The way old friends do

Forget about trying to put an F# in the bass of a D chord on the mandolin. If you try it, you'll be stuck with something like 11-12-12-14. Try 2455 instead. Or x455.

Thanks much mrmando. Those 2 voicings make sense.

I was hoping to find single-note fingering. When it comes to chords, it's still as though my fingers are too fat.

Thanks guys.

Yikes! Abba?!

Well as my daughters have recently discovered Mamma Mia, I have been privileged to listen to the soundtrack repeatedly. This strikes me as a highly mando-appropriate tune:

i love abba ...

I used to love their outfits (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIXqpva7qdg), but always wondered who played the drums...
