is there anywhere one could find sheet music, not tabs, for the guitar parts/solos to popular rock songs? Maybe I could play them with the mandolin, if they're not too low. i was thinking about this when trying to play the guitar part to "Johnny B. Goode" on my electric mandolin by ear.

Sure, there are plenty of books of transcribed guitar solos (Hendrix, Knopfler, Garcia, SRV, Santana, Angus, BB, Brian May, Gilmour, Berry, etc. etc. etc. etc.) which use both notation and tab. (I've got a couple shelves full.) And then there are the various guitar magazines doing the same.
