I would like to remove some very light scratches on a lacquer finish and get that mirror like glossy shine again. I've heard that Novus #2 polish may do the trick. I would be polishing and buffing by hand. Any recommendations?

McGuires #7 works well by hand, as does Micro Mesh.

Depending how deep the scratches are, select sand paper to sand out the surface. 1000 grit or finer should do nicely, then use the polishes suggested. If you are doing this entirely by hand maybe you should sand to at least 1500 grit.
