Hi!

I'm about to change my mandolin strings, and I wanted to buy new D'Addario strings, but I don't know which strings to buy (there are many of them: http://store.daddario.com/category/144863/Mandolin_Family ).

My mandolin is an electro-acoustic A-style mandolin, and I play Irish music and bluegrass, mainly.

Which D'Addario strings are better for me?

Thanks!

For electric response you need either nickel or stainless wrap strings, so JS74 (stainless) or J67 (nickel) should fit your application.

I play on acoustic most of the times, I just amplify it for my concerts.
Anyway, I think they'd be good.

Correction: for magnetic-pickup best response you usually need steel or nickel. For piezo you can use anything. The J-74 bronze are the most popular.

J-74's are about right...if you like a heavier guage J75s work well. I've gone as light as J62s (per manufacturer's recs) on my Flatiron pancake, and they work well on that mando but I don't think they'd do well on my bluegrass mandos (which seem to like the J75s, though my fingers like the 74s better :) )
