Does anybody know whether the serial numbers for the Washburn Jethro Burns mandolins have any meaning? I am looking at an A-style Washburn with serial number of 950 or thereabouts. Does this indicate anything about date, where made or instrument specifications?

Thanks in advance.

(as it turns out the support at Washburn is very helpful and answered my question.)

O.K., is this a record? I posted and replied twice to my own post. At any rate, I just purchased a 1979 solid spruce/maple Japanese-made Washburn on ebay. It will be interesting to see what $100.00 buys, but I just had to give it a try. In the past, I have had two out of three mandolins in the under $100 range that were half decent.
