Flat-out amazing arrangements. The Garoto tune is a standout but every single tune is done to perfection.

The interesting thing about this, beyond the great musicianship, is that they are doing quite a few samba/bossa style tunes, including Brazil, some Tom Jobim, and a Paraguayan guitar tune. The Cavaquinho, guitar, and pandeiro playing are just superb, in addition to a textbook lesson on the various ways to get the wonderful choro stylist effects on mandolin. HD is really nice to see this stuff, and the use of multiple cameras give us a lot of close ups. If you play choro you shouldn't miss this...

Another great performance. What a week at the Kennedy Center!
I'm just glad that we're able to get these extended performances with such quality and detail.
Nice to see the Brasilia contingent represented, and to hear the sound that led to the choro exaltação of Hamilton's 'Aquarela na Quixaba,' among other things. I could have sworn at least twice that's what they were playing. Seems that kind of great swinging wall of sound is in the water in Brasilia.
Very cool.
Also really terrific that Radamés Gnattali's 'Suite Retratos' is getting played more often. The Pixinguinha movement that they played here has suddenly come onto my radar of late, a really delicious piece of music. Murderously difficult to play, I'd imagine, especially to make it sound carefree and easy. But these guys seem to excel at that!
