View Full Version : Vote on our band name
My cousin,Bob (guitar), his sister's husband, Randy(guitar), a friend, Joe(Bass), and I (Mando, b*njo, whistle) have gotten together recently just to play. Then someone came up and offered us a gig that will be part of a fund raiser for a local children's charity. So we said OK. Then they said we needed to have a band name. That may be the hardest part deciding on a name. So here are the choices. Please vote for your favorite and I'll tell the guys. Please don't add any, we don't need to be more indecisive.
"Sophie's Legacy" - (Sophie was our grandmother and subject of our signature song.)
"Acoustic Acquisition Company" - (You can imagine where that came from.)
"Bobby and the Baldspots"- (Since only Bob has hair.)
Thanks for your vote. I'll let you know what is decided after we rehearse tonight.

I'd vote for Sophie's Legacy as my first choice, though the Bald Spots has a certain ring to it. Might seem a bit dated, though, after a couple of years.

When in doubt, I always consult Leon's Random Generators (http://www.leonatkinson.com/random/index.php?SCREEN=band).

How bout changing it from bald spots to "Bald Knobs"?
Thanks for your votes. Polls will officially close at 7 PM Eastern time. But as you can see Sophie is running away with the vote. I just hope there are no dimpled chads to consider.

sophie's legacy would be honor her legacy, although Sophie's bald spots might not.
Hope Sophie's Legacy prevailed.
Eugene, the random band name generator site was great. I really liked the random web site generator link. About 8 out of 10 beat what I paid a designer to develop for me last year. I know where I will go next time.

Leon can't match for totally unacceptable band names the Cafe's own Random Bad Bluegrass Band Namer (http://www.mandolincafe.com/archives/bandnames/)

Thanks so much for your responses. My Grandmother, Sophie Barnes would be tickled pink were she still with us. Although Sophie's Legacy was the clear winner in votes, Bob and Joe decided to go with "The Acoustic Acquisition Company." They did, however, agree to revisit this after this weekend's gig. There's still hope.
Thanks again for your input, and if you're in the Louiville area on Saturday, look for us at Equifest, near Prospect, Ky (across the road from Henry's Ark.)

Trust me...the only name I will remember after the dust settles is Bobby and the Baldspots....
