Don't know how many of you know about this. Good site for free chord charts.

That's pretty cool, Pete! I have the iphone/iPad app that does these, and while it isn't free, there are additional editing features, and of course the portability.
One thing I'd like to find is (legal) PDF versions of the Realbook to load into my iPad as an entire book, and not just individual sheets. I did buy an eReader version (Kindle) version of the Hal Leonard Realbook (Book I of three), but it's cumbersome to read through, and not all of them are available in this format, let alone in the iBooks or Nook format.

Hopefully the new electronic readers will become common enough that ALL publishers will look into these formats.
Ted, wouldn't it be cool to show up at a gig with just an iPad/Kindle and not a gigantic stack of books? :mandosmiley::mandosmiley::mandosmiley:

Pete, I already started using my iPad in church. It is very handy. I just corresponded with the web author in France, and he says as they upgrade the site, you will be able to create your own ebooks with their charts for personalized set lists.
Pretty cool.

I still haven't broken down and bought an Ipad yet for this purpose, but I'm gettin' close. Are there any drawbacks to gigging with this that you've found, Ted? (anyone else who uses this, please feel free to add comments)

I'd say that as long as you don't have a ton of page turns to deal with (during a tune) and you're comfortable with the screen size, there aren't many drawbacks.
I'd probably invest in a case like this one (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003JECR8M/). I've got the same case for my iPhone and it can definitely take the abuse. It's got a raised bumper that surrounds the screen. If it took a dive off a music stand I'd be pretty confident that it would be OK.
There are lots of sheet music specific PDF readers for the iPad. Forscore and Unrealbook are the two that I have experience with. Each is a little different. They are fairly cheap, so you can buy two or three to decide which you like the best.
Since gigs are few and far between for me, I've concentrated on using my iPad for practice purposes. I've almost got my workflow down. It centers around Tabtoolkit, think Tabledit Viewer for the iPad. I hope to get a review of the process out there soon.

Between Forscore and Unrealbook, which would you say is best ?
I have Ireal, Setlist, Onsong, these I use for lead sheets, haven't decided which I like best for entering my own chord sheets. I need a good PDF viewer.
There is a company coming out with a clip on type mount for the iPad that will fit onto a mic stand. That's what I'd be interested in.

Is it possible to bring up the chord chart and also trigger a midifile or backup loop to play along with from the page of the chart? If this is possible what software would I neeed?

They have come out with the Ipad clip for attaching to a mic stand, I have ordered mine. You can place pre orders here; ( no financial interest)
