I just picked up my mandolin today after Larry Brown installed a new Steve Smith bridge that I bought from Cumberlandacoustic.com. What a huge improvement in volume and tone! Thanks Steve.

Larry also made a nut out of fossilized walrus ivory. Thanks Larry.

..I bought one a while back...Im having it installed on my new mando..I notice it seems to be making contact with the top all the way across the base.....I like that...to me thats the only way to go..I believe you get more sound transerence that way.

I wonder if it came that way Scotti because Steve makes all the bridges for Gibson and my Bush had one that didn't make contact all the way across. Of course I sanded it down to do so. I will talk to Steve this weekend and ask him if he makes them that way. I do LOVE his bridges and his armrests look pretty dang cool (even though I am not into armrests). Plus, he is the coolest guy. He came to the Ryman when we were playing a few weeks ago and we talked much about mandos and bridges. Guess what he happened to have in his pocket? A new bridge made of cocobolo! It looked great and he said the sound was excellent. I had to laugh because only a mando freak would have a bridge in his pocket at any given time!

Help-I need a bridge for an H4 Gibson mandola. The original I have has too many grooves in it but can be used for a prototype. Who best can do a replica? And how do I contact him? Is it Steve Smith? Thanks for your help in advance

Steve does make "full foot" bridges, but only by request. He also makes what he calls a "tall boy" version of his bridge if you have a steep neck angle or otherwise need a taller bridge/saddle.

I had Larry put one on my Ratcliff last year--he said it had excellent intonation and seemed impressed. I know it helped focus the mando's tone.
