ok, so my guitar playin buddy got this book of 13 guitar/mando duets titled "tango passions" by ely karasik (sp?)
he gave me the mando part, wich is all standard notation, wich is good because i want to get better at reading...

my questions are,
does anyone have this book or expeirence with it?
and is there anyplace i can find these tunes on cd?

its really cool so far, even though the going is a lilttle slow. im having a hard time getting the timing right, reading the rythm of the notes is where i am definatly lacking the most! so the cd would do wonders.

I have sight read through the book twice -- once on each instrument, with two different musician friends. They are very interesting and catchy pieces.

I haven't heard the cd but, according to the book, there seems to be some kind of recording.

Let me know if you find one.

I bought this book a year or two ago and really like it,
being partial to different world genres. Pretty much a "moderate" difficulty if you read decently.
Ely has made two self produced (and I thnk manufactured) CD's that he will sell you directly, I think I searched him out on the web to get his email. The CD's are fine versions of the Tangos and some Klezmer and others very well played.
Let me know if you can't find an email for him on the book or on line. He seems pretty cheerful too, wrote a nice note with the Cd's. Deserves to be better known I think.
