I won't print the actual mail, but I received a request from someone bidding on a guitar I was also bidding on to please cease bidding and let him win. He (?) said he hadn't much money and was trying to buy one cheap, etc. I thought it strange that he used an address like "loser12345" and asked me to respond to another address "loser67890". The address revealed e-bay membership since 12/03 but only one $10 dollar purchase since. I replied that every thing about e-bay was opposite to this etc. and asked in a follow up e-mail how much he was willing to spend. No response...just a kid or a con??

I don't know, but am not sure that is even legal. That may be price fixing. It surely isn't ethical, not that there is much in the way of ethics on EBay. Just another reason I avoid EBay.

This guy's "loser" addresses seem to be truth in advertising, though!

I would ignore any email I recieved like that, even if I knew it was legitimate. # It's too bad if someone can't afford to bid high enough, but how does that person know you're not in the same boat. #It's the last place to be a nice guy, unless you sell something, or buy something. #Everyone else is the enemy.

And, If I lose to a sniper, or because I FORGOT TO PUT MY BID HIGHER JEFF, well, too bad for me. #
I still kick myself for losing that refinished snakehead. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Thats bid tampering and not fair to the seller. I would have e-mailed the guy back and told him I was forwarding his illegal e-mail to eBay and then I would have done it.
