Dave Harvey's new project, a bluegrass version of the Moody Blues is now available. There is a lot of GREAT mandolin on the album and some great singing by many including his wife Jan. Don't miss this one. IT is worth the bucks!

Dang Joe! They beat me to it! Our band does some covers bluegrass style and I've been thinking of doing a Moody's tune for quite some time. Sounds like fun! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

Is Dave doing the mandolin work on it?

A Bluegrass version of the Moody Blues? I can't even stand the Moody Blues doing the Moody Blues! However, I imagine "Knights In White Satin" would sound good on mandolin.
wow, great that this finally out, Dave told me about this at least a year ago. And Knights in White Satin has been done grass by Mike Garris with Marc McGlashan on hot mando....it does indeed work.

Yes. Dave did the mando work. Very incredible to say the least. I am not a huge Moody fan but this interpretation may just change my mind. Not conventional grass always, but always great music!
Awesome, I have been waiting for something like this. My wife is a huge Moody fan and drags me to their shows and such.

Well, I've got it. #I'm a big Moody Blues fan and this sounded like it would just be the nexus of pop music nirvana for me. after a listen or 2, i enjoyed it, but i don't think it was bluegrassy enough! #
I think it was interesting that they kept the Moodies arrangements and just applied BG instruments/style to it. (Dobro and banjo doing the mellotron parts!) #That was really fun (How are they going to do this bit?...) But i think this is where it failed too. #After hearing the Moodies for 30 years, i was ready for more spin on those tunes. #I was ready for some real Kentucky out of these Blues.
and, sad to say, i didn't care for the vocals. #They did a fine job, but, when sticking to the original arrangements, and the moodies voices are so dug in my memory, these new ones just didn't do enough to be different. #I was actually hoping for one of those "Pickin on (insert pop band here)" type disks; #All instrumental versions of the Moodies hits with tasty BG lead instruments. #Well, until then, #this will do nicely.
