Here's the arrangement I use:
Intro:

|G7...C7...F......F.....|
Sec A:
|D7.......................|....................... |
|G7.......................|....................... |
|C7.......................|....................... |
|F.........................|...........A7........|
Sec B:
|D7.......................|....................... |
|G7.......................|....................... |
|Dm7.......A7...........|Dm7......A7........|
|F7...E7...Eb7...D7...|G7...C7...F...F....|
Ending:
|F7...E7...Eb7...D7...|(3X)
|G7...C7...F......F.....|
Fingerings (I like the three-note chords on the G, D and A strings):
For the F7, E7, Eb7, D7 and C7 (A-string root note. F7 shown.)
||---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
||---|---|---|---|---|---|---|--x|
||---|---|---|---|---|---|--x|---|
||---|---|---|---|---|---|---|--x|
For the G7 and A7 (non-Root. G7 shown)
||---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
||---|---|---|---|--x|---|---|---|
||---|---|--x|---|---|---|---|---|
||---|---|---|--x|---|---|---|---|
For the Dm7 (A-string root note)
||---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|

It is fun to take it out and modulate: F, C, G, or Bb- all good keys, but learn in as many keys as you can.

Jazz players commonly play it in Ab, the Real Book key.

Ab is a fun key for this type of tune.

Grapelli played it in F, so do many players from other backgrounds than jazz. The Hot Club did it in G. Boppers seem to prefer
Ab - Miles Davis' Dig, on the same changes, is in Ab, too. A fairly standard key for a male voice. Milton Brown
sang it in Bb. I say, practise all of these.
many thanks for the input I guess I'll try a few keys
my favourite key is whis
Dave.

There used to be a nice TAB of SGB on Jay Buckey's site, but I think it has now been removed, I might still have a copy somewhere. Dix Bruce also has a free download of the chords and an MP3 to play along with on his site. Both versions are in "F".

Hey Dave...just noticed...on my input (#2), the "F" on the second line should be "Dm"...:redface:
