Here's a few shots of my lefty Richard Beard Cittern that, as you can see, is almost ready to be shipped.

Lovely. If it sounds half as good as it looks you should be well pleased.

What tuning are you planning on using?

5ths (CGDAE) subject to changing to DGDAD....got the JazzCittern program, and I'd like to work with that for a while, and it requires 5ths tuning

Jem, this looks like the fraternal twin of mine. They could well go out of Richard's shop on the same truck. I resolved not to post any pictures of mine until I have it in hand, which should be by the middle of this month. Then I will post, of course. Richard recommends the 24 3/4" scale length, koa back and sides, and tortoiseshell binding, so the resemblance starts there. I also got the gold hardware. Mine's a bouzouki (4 course), not a cittern (5 course). I also play mandolin, so I'm not inclined to figure out what to do with that extra course.

Richard has a stash of 30-year old red spruce harvested in the Great Smoky Mountains. So I sprang for the red spruce top as an option, as the price of the upgrade was reasonable. And I asked Richard to put in abalone snowflakes on the fretboard, which I like.

And to think we had to talk you into this purchase. :-)
