I have had my bleoved mandofriend for about a year 1/2. I am getting to the stage where I am finally seeing results in the many hours I have put into practice. Mandolins are nice, oh so nice. But mine would be even nicer if I could compete with her at my side. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif Sooooooooooo...........
ANy of you mandolin veterans know of any good competitions in the Northwest?http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif?

There are few contests in the NW. One at the Stevenson BG fest in July and another at Chilliwack Labor day weekend. That is all I know that happen each year.
Ocassionally there are oyhers, but I haven't heard of any in recent years. Go to Winfield and compete there.
There's the CA state (http://www.fiddle.com/calfiddle/Contests.htm) and Western Open (http://www.westernopenfiddle.com/) contests in northern CA. They're comin up soon.

Chiliwack dropped the competetion a couple of years ago in favor of an "open mic" - good move I'd say!
