I am looking for a resonably priced,(around 1k-2k) playable 2 point oval hole. My main mandolin hero is Jethro.
Been outbid at the last minute on a few recently on e-bay, and really would prefer to purchase one from a higher quality instrument from a mandolin player from around here.
Any suggestions on what model/maker to look for and where to look?

Steve,
Here's one I spotted last night on the FOTW website:

Not exactly a Burns style 2-pointer, check out Bill Bussmann's C# mandolins. (http://www.zianet.com/bussmann/photo_csharp.html) Below is a sample from his website.

Thanks for the responses!
I call FOTW today on that Aida.
Saw a couple of Ibanezs,a Sigma Martin, and another on e-bay, but someone always came in at the last minute and outbid.
I would really like to find a higher quality instrument in the 1k-2k range that will be a lifetime instrument for me.

That Aida looks just like my Alvarez. I love my Alvarez two-point, oval hole mandolin. It's one of the Alvarez mandolins that didn't stink (I have had a few loosers, that fortunatly I was able to return - another vote for the 48 hour trial).

Thanks again for all your help! Especially Loren. I just ordered the Aida from FOTW. Heard it over the phone, and it sounded like it sounded great. Next adventure would be a Weber Bighorn or Phoenix. Just don't have those $$$ right now.
