I saw this on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....MEWA:IT (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=3751285371&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT) and was wondering if it was worth the effort to restore this old mandolin. It appears to have a seam separation on both the top and back. What are the odds of rehumidifying and then regluing this one? I asue that it would need a cleating of somesort, maybe a cloth/glue tape ala old Martin guitar factory repairs? I am completely in the dark about this model. I haven't heard of it before, but it appears to be pretty close to the Army/Navy model. Could this be a precursor to it? The 1909 date that the seller is talking about is more probably a patent date (pickguard?). What do you guys think?

The Alrite model was only made in 1917. After the US went to war it became the "Army and Navy" model and was made for a few years. Notice that this one has really nice binding on the top. The Army and Navy was plainer and a lot more of them were made than were the Alrite, so his one is worth quite a bit more I believe.

I think it would be worth repairing, but I can't give a value on either it or an Army and navy model. I believe the Army and Navy was Model AY, but I may be wrong. They are rated very well for sound, so this one should be as well.
