Was fooling around this afternoon and came up with this arrangement. I need to get the verse melody notes more like the real thing, but it's a start.

(applause!) That's one heck of a start. I like how you can carry the whole song through and don't leave the listeners too many parts to fill in with their imagination. Well done.

Very nice job! I think you got closer to the melody than you give yourself credit for. I really like the way you ended it - very inventive. :mandosmiley:

Until now I thought I was the only one brave/insane/imaginitive (you decide) enough to play The Police on mandolin. I don't want to hijack the thread, but share what happened to me one time when the reggae-esque band I was jamming with veered into "Walking On The Moon" and tape was rolling ... The file's too big to upload here but you can hear it at my myspace page. (http://www.myspace.com/mandolinsteve9)

Keep pushing the envelope! :mandosmiley:

great stuff! - some solos run the risk of being thin, but not that - complimenti!

thanks!

misterc, I'm in the process of moving to Tampa, so not playing there yet. I'll be there permanently in mid-July, would appreciate any info on the scene there if you know of stuff happening. I'll be looking to get something together once I get settled.

Follow up note: I can't seem to stop myself from listening to this over and over -- nicely done again Mark.

(BTW, when I am not listening to the your version, I now have the original version playing on a loop in my head, the ear worm that it is!)

Apologies for the necro-post, but someone requested a tab of this arrangement, thought I'd post it here in case anyone was interested in fooling with it. It's a bit bare bones, but that's probably for the best what with the massive syncopation.

Enjoy!
