I mean to type 'Gillian', of course. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
Anyway, there is a surprisingly musician oriented article on Ms. Welch and David Rawlings in this month's New Yorker, and they've generously posted it online. Thanks, New Yorker!

FWIW, I read the print article, and assume the online content is the same.
A really nice, inspiring story. Thanks for the link.

I was lucky enough to seem them here in Goshen, recently. What an incredible show. You'll be drawn in by their harmonies, intensity, and effortlessness. They are "Gillian Welch" as the article explains. David's solos are priceless Satori moments - they startle you with what has been achieved and then they're gone. And the songs do take you in as their voices blend and blend and blend.

I'll be able to see them perform this weekend for free at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, plus I have tickets for their show at The Fillmore.
They're *it* for me. The bee's knees. Her singing. His playing. Those harmonies.

Thanks, two of my favorites. I love the tone David gets from that archtop. Kind of a mandocello flavor to it.
