Here are two questions in one post. Is the space between each pair of strings the same at the nut as at the bridge? If the distance between one pair,in my case the A,is wider at the nut than at the bridge,is there a way to re-slot the A strings at the bridge without having to re-cut the other 3 pairs? Thanks in advance.

The distance between each A string should be the same at the nut as it is at the bridge, but the distance between the A strings and the D or E strings will be greater at the bridge than at the nut. I think you were asking about the former though. It might be possible to cut a new slot or perhaps two slots for the A string(s) in the bridge without having to redo the other pairs. It would depend on whether the current slots are centered where they are supposed to be or off to one side or the other. If you had to move over off-center to get new slots, then the A strings would end up too close to either the D or the E strings and too far from the other. If you could post a pic of your bridge, it might help.

Not sure if I told you anything you didn't already know, but I hope that helps.

Thanks-I think some set up work is in order and I may just need to re-do all the slots at the saddle.Upon closer inspection I've noticed differences in spacing at the nut as well. It's a new instrument and I'm sure it will be covered under my warranty. Thanks for the info.
