I've found that since I've been playing the mando, I notice it a lot more in a variety of songs. Not just bluegrass, but rock, gospel, country (duh), jazz, swing, lots of stuff! IT's really weird. It's like I'll be in an elevator and hear that annoying music that elevators have-but with a mando. Or I'll be in the grocery store and randomly hear a lick from one of Mike Marshall's or Chris Thile's songs. Before i got hooked on this lovely instrument, I wouldn't have gived a care if the mando was being played. But now that I am hooked, I can't stop thinking about it and noticing it.
Anyone else hearing mando licks everywhere they go??? http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

I started having those experiences long before I started playing mando. It was probably a sign that I was destined to be a mando player, a sign I should have heeded much sooner than I did. Whenever I hear a tune that has a mando in it, that tune seems to cut through whatever else is going on and get my atttention.

I too have noticed more Mando music as well. The one show that I found to be the most interesting in having Mando music is....American Chopper on Discovery....

Nahh! The mando music has always been there, it's just NOW you notice it.

My good friend always wanted a canary yellow Volkswagon Bug, she finally bought one, NOW she swears she sees then all over the place (so do I).

I will tell you though my mandolin gets noticed MORE than a guitar, bass, banjo etc. Almost everytime I play someone comes up and asks me what it is? LOL!
